Equivocator and Chief…

In the beginning of 2009 most of the main stream media couldn’t get enough of President Obama. They covered him 24/7, showering him with praise and commenting on how well he spoke to the people and to the press. Very little effort was given at dissecting what he said; instead the media focused on how Obama’s word made you feel (i.e. Chris Matthews: “I Felt This Thrill Going Up My Leg” As Obama Spoke). The honey-moon period has somewhat worn off now and the media is starting to see that Obama is one who avoids giving a clear direct answer; he is a typical Washington politician. He is our ‘Equivocator in Chief’.

The polls are showing growing disappointment and polarization over Obama’s performance during his first year in office and now many of those same media critiques that that were once supporting him are now labeling him as a compulsive liar. A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit, whereas a pathological liar is often goal-oriented and is defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way and does so with little concern for others. Obama is no compulsive liar. Pathological liars have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others. They often come across as being manipulative, cunning and self-centered. A pathological liar would lie on their resume to get a job, lie about their true past and class anyone who challenged them as paranoid. Does this sound familiar to you?

Let’s go through a short list of the big lies or untruths that President Obama and his administration have made during his first year as ‘Equivocator in Chief’. This is by no means a complete list.

He lied when he said he would go through the budget line by line and that he’d veto bills that included earmarks. On the campaign trail he specifically said he was against earmarks, now Obama defends pet projects and signs spending bills that include billions of dollars in earmark money.

He lied when he said that he wanted the American people to hold this administration and Congress accountable for their actions; yet he and his Senate Leadership restricted C-SPAN cameras from witnessing the deals on the Healthcare bill.

He lied when he said that his government would be open and transparent and that the American public will have 5 days to look online at every bill before he signs it. Yet the American people were not permitted to see the bill or the discussions revolving around the Healthcare Bill.

He lied about not having Lobbyists in his administration during the campaign. Yet days after his inauguration, President Obama decided to make an exception to his pledge by nominating lobbyist William Lynn as his Deputy Defense Secretary.

He lied when he said on the campaign trail that he wouldn’t raise taxes. Rather than cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans, the Obama budget is proposed to increase taxes as a share of the economy in eight out of the next 10 years. And that would raise, not reduce the tax burden over the coming decade.

He lied when he said if the stimulus bill was passed that the nation’s unemployment rate would not go above 8%. The White House said the stimulus prevented a depression, yet eleven months after the nearly $800 billion stimulus bill was signed into law; the nation’s unemployment rate broke double digits at 10 percent. Some states are near bankrupt with nearly double the national figure. Since this was the key tag line to get this bill passed, we should be able to honestly state that the stimulus has failed.

He lied when he said he would end the war in Iraq. He refuses to say that we have won the war, but claims more success than G.W. Bush at killing terrorists: “And in the last year, hundreds of al-Qaida’s fighters and affiliates, including many senior leaders, have been captured or killed — far more than in 2008.”  Yet we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He lied when he said he would close Gitmo. Obama signed his very first Executive Order to Close Guantanamo in a Year. Obama has since realized that the task was going to be harder than he thought. Gitmo is still open.

He lied when he said he wanted an independent bipartisan fiscal commission with the power to force Congress to vote on major deficit reduction steps. This was at best a deceitful dodge of accountability, especially for Congressional Democrats. It can easily be said that the President was merely trying to real in Republicans to spread the blame around. A bipartisan commission like this would allow Democrats to push part of the blame for high unemployment rates and raising taxes in a recession on Republicans. The Senate defeated the President’s proposal by equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans.

He lied when he said there was ‘overwhelming scientific evidence of global warming’. With the recent “Climate Gate” happening the truth has been revealed that the data this administration and the United Nations IPCC has been using to support its ‘Green agenda’ is seriously flawed…and they knew it.

He lied when he said “…we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years…”. He is leaving the details out of this and simply cannot promise something that is out of his control. In order for this to be a true statement, he would have to be able to persuade Congress to go along. Which is something he seems to be having a lot of trouble doing. The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than 1 percent of the deficit anyway.

He lied when he said the government’s Economic Recovery Plan would save or create 2.5 million more jobs by January of 2011. Obama stated, “Because of the steps we took, there are about 2 million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. … And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year.” However the Congressional Budget Office has stated that “It is impossible to determine how many of the reported jobs would have existed in the absence of the stimulus package.”

During the State of the Union address and his visit to the GOP House Issues Conference, President Obama proven to us once again, that he is a pathological liar by being untruthful on just about everything he stated. Take some time to watch the two videos above and really listen to what he says, not how he is saying it. Then break it down and research it. You will see, unless you are blinded by ideology, that most of the things he says are deceitful or falsehearted in one way or another. You be the judge…

Junk Science =“Good Enough” Science…

Have you ever wondered how far Enviro-Libs would take their political or social agendas? With the news of the recent climate research unit hacking at the University of East Anglia, also commonly known as “Climate-Gate”, and with the constant flow of information showing us that global warming is a fraud or hoax based on cooked figures and data; it’s astonishing that the main stream media outlets have not reported the true findings to expose the hoax for what it is. Green advocates are supposed to be for a clean environment, so why do they peddle this garbage agenda onto everyone?

IPCC Chairman Rajendra Pachauri

Throughout that past decade cherry-picked “environmental experts” have been telling us that we can’t continue to live the way that we do and be able to sustain human existence if we do not make lifestyle changes on a massive scale. We are not talking about simply recycling our soda cans here, we are talking about utterly changing the way that we live, what kind of car we drive, what size of house we live in, what we eat, etc. However, people aren’t just going to change their lives overnight and they aren’t going to do it for a unimportant reason. The Enviro-Libs realized that their mission would be a long and tough one, and for the most part they have been very successful in promoting their green ideology unimpeded until recently.  Verification of their achievement is as easy as watching a few minutes of television commercials and take note of how many mention “going green”. Long ago liberals understood that the more dire the threats are associated with global warming, the more liberties people will be willing to give up. So the Enviro-Libs cook up a few stories about penguins and polar bears dying and glaciers melting in a matter of a few years…they get people mislead and hooked on the idea of “going green”.

Based on these statists agenda and how they are in control of not only the government but also the main stream media; it really becomes no surprise as to why the media (other than FNC) have not reported the scandal. Bottom line, the liberal controlled media and the statists within our government have too much invested into this movement to admit that it is based on fraudulent data. Make no mistake about it, this whole global warming scenario was tailor made for the statist and they aren’t about to give it up just yet. This is a religion to many of them, not just an idea.

What is really astonishing is that our government has conspired in a deliberate and systematic distortion of the science behind global warming with the United Nations leading the way. President Obama is a “green president” in ideology, but not in reality. He spreads his green agenda through political action and social persuasion; while he and his fellow hypocritical global warming supporters flew to Copenhagen for the United Nations Climate Change Conference with their hundreds of jets consuming thousands of gallons of fuel and emitting tons of carbon.

Even though the earth has been proven to be cooling down, Enviro-Libs still refuse to give up, and in fact have changed their approach by calling it “Climate Change” instead of “global Warming”. Now these so-called experts are telling us that we are responsible for supposed increase in storms and the unusual temperatures. However, this is not something new; Enviro-Libs have been doing this climate bait and switch strategy since the 1970’s.

Bottom line, there is absolutely no unbiased scientific consensus that proves that man has influenced the earth’s climate or temperature. However that doesn’t stop European and American politicians from peddling their green ideology, making millions of dollars in the process. Kind of ironic since many of these climate change supporters are also anti-capitalists. And it’s not just liberal leaning Democrats spreading the lies about global warming; Republicans like Sen. John McCain and Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich are also spreading the untruths by buying into the green-agenda and stressing that the party needs to have a “Green Conservative” platform.

The global warming debate will never be over as long as the main stream media, Hollywood, and politicians like former Vice President Al Gore keep spreading the lies about the issue, denying the truth.  The biggest problem with politicians spreading the hoax is that the green ideology continues to heavily influence political decision making and can have a big impact international laws. The United Nations has been one of the main supporters of the green movement and is heavily advocating the case for man caused global warming. In 1988 the UN established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which releases climate change reports. These reports, which have been proven to be flawed and inaccurate, have been widely cited as the authoritative source for climate change data since 2007. The report that IPCC published stated that the Himalayan Mountains were to be gone, melted before the year 2035 unless the world changed its way of life. However, due to the attention that Climate-gate generated, the IPCC and the “scientist” who was responsible for the report have admitted that the data was cooked up to make the scenario look much worse than what is really was and that it was all based on “junk science”. Their motive was stated to put political pressure on world leaders, which no doubt has worked.

Many have criticized the IPCC over the years saying that it is not a scientific institution and that it is more of a political body motivated by pushing a global green agenda.  This latest climate-gate scandal and the lack of main stream media coverage following the issues seems to provide some credence to that criticism. We do not need the United Nations or the IPCC to show us the way to a better life, we can figure it out on our own.

A Brown Party?

Many GOP’ers are identifying themselves with Brown, a socially moderate Republican, hoping his good luck will rub off onto them. Anyone following the MA race was most likely shocked and energized when Brown won the seat to replace the late Ted Kennedy (D-Mass). Brown won by running on the healthcare issue, stating that he would be the 41st vote, a “no” vote to kill the bill. And as exciting as that is, it’s important to note that he is not totally against the idea of a government run healthcare program.

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass)

Brown has stated during his campaign that he believes everyone should have some form of basic healthcare, and that, to him, that the real issue came down to how to fund the care (i.e. raising taxes, reducing Medicare expenses, etc.). No concern was given to the Constitutionality of the government forcing American to by something that they didn’t want or need. So based on that, it sounds like he wants a government run system, but not the way that the Democrats are currently purposing it. That doesn’t sound like an anti-big Government Republican. So is this merely a temporary win for the GOP?

Brown didn’t win by just appealing to the Conservative base, he won by also attracting the moderates. Several weeks ago GOP supporters, including the Tea Party movement groups, demanded that more conservatives run for office and some even wanted to oust progressives and moderate GOP’ers like Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz). Today, many of those same “big-tent Republicans”, including Sen. McCain, are aligning themselves with Scott Brown in an effort to use his momentum to either be elected or to retain their current seats. So, the question comes to mind; has the party changed its core values already just because they now have the chance to stop healthcare in its tracks…temporarily?

As nice as it is to see a Republican in the Massachusetts seat, let’s put this issue into a non-partisan perspective for a moment. Would Senator-Elect Brown have won the Massachusetts Senate race if the Healthcare debate was not on the table? Doubtful. Would Brown have received so much support from the various conservative and libertarian minded Tea Party groups if the Healthcare debate was not present? Probably not. Remember, these are the same organizations that demanded more conservatives and less “big-tent” Republicans.

Some in the media have already started mentioning Brown running for the office of President in 2012, which seems to be a ridiculous mention; but when you consider that Obama was a new Senator with very little experience, anything seems possible. None-the-less this is a clear case of putting the cart before the horse. At this point we have no real idea what Scott Brown will do in his seat, or how he will vote. Politicians run on campaign statements that very rarely ever get held up to. Only time will tell if Brown lives up to his words.

President Obama has already vowed not to let this recent Senate election stop his goal of a government run healthcare system. The real question here isn’t about how Brown will vote on healthcare; as the bill appears to be dead in the water at the moment. The underlying issue is this – has the GOP sacrificed its core values by identifying itself with more moderate Republicans like Scott Brown, or has it changed its image because the political winds are blowing in a different direction? You be the judge.

INTERPOL Immunity, and more Global Governance?

There are many speculations regarding President Obama’s secretive Executive Order 12425that was made in the middle of the night on December 17, which grants full immunity to INTERPOL (the International Police Organization) on American soil. The order basically grants the foreign law enforcement agency some very broad powers to operate nearly unrestricted within the United States; exceeding even some of the most troubling aspects of the Patriot Act. Under the order INTERPOL would be immune from following America’s 4th Amendment search and seizure provisions, and 6th Amendment rights; allowing INTERPOL’s law enforcement powers to supersede the United States Constitution. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the foreign law enforcement organization would not be required to report any of their communications or activities while on American soil ultimately making them unaccountable to anyone in the U.S. government. Can we say ‘Gestapo’.

As the picture begins to come into focus, it still remains exceedingly unclear as to why the President would have initiated such an unlawful order. The Whitehouse continues to dodge the issue and refuses to comment on it, allowing more confusion and speculation to fester on the internet about the issue. Some supporters on the left speculate that the orders purpose could possibly be Obama’s way of helping to improve our intelligence gathering techniques, but realistically speaking, do we need yet another foreign organization meddling in American domestic affairs? Some feel this is a way for this administration to make it easier for foreign organizations to prosecute past US Presidents (mainly President G.W. Bush), members of our military and members of Congress in an EU International Criminal Court for supposed ‘war crimes’. Others see it as a move to make US intelligence organizations function more like European law enforcement organizations. Until the Whitehouse comes clean on the issue, the few conservative minded media outlets that are covering it and the blogosphere will be teeming with ideas and conspiracy theories.

All is not lost however as even omnipotent Presidential orders can be quashed under the right circumstances. The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned two executive orders in the past; President Harry S. Truman’s Executive Order 10340 in which the Supreme Court ruled that placing all steel mills under the federal governments control was revoked because it attempted to make law, rather than clarify a law that was already put forth by the Congress (Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer). The President does not have, and Congress cannot grant the president, the power to create laws. The second order that was struck down by the Supreme Court was in 1996 when President Bill Clinton attempted to prevent the U.S. government from contracting with organizations that had strike-breakers on the payroll.

Congress also has the ability to overturn an executive order by passing legislation that directly conflicts with the order or they can refuse to approve the funding that is needed to enforce the order. Even as concerning as Obama’s secret order appears to be, it’s important to remember that Executive orders have been amended and revoked many times, sometimes altering the very intent of the order in the first place.

Regardless of the orders purpose, what should be all the more unsettling to American citizens is that every time the American public turns around, it would seem that this administration is working very hard to undermine the rights of American citizens that are specifically protected by the Constitution of the United States, not to mention this great nation’s sovereignty. However, we have a President who believes the Constitution reflects “the fundamental flaw of this country”, so with that being said, it should really be of no surprise to anyone that the order was issued and that it was issued in secret.  Again, the transparency that was promised to the American voters has once again gone missing in action.

GOP, the Party of Disfunction?

dys·func·tion (also dis·func·tion): Abnormal or impaired functioning, especially of a bodily system or social group.

Does that definition describe the Republican Party? Some people would say absolutely, and others who have a blind faith in their political party no matter what the truth is, would say no. There is no doubt that many Republicans feel that the Party’s leaders are out of touch with the voters. According to a recent Rasmussen poll, seventy-three percent (73%) of Republican voters believe their party’s congressional leaders are out of touch with the party base. As a Republican this poll should cause pause to some degree, and as a conservative this should been seen as a challenge and an opportunity to improve the party.

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Israel Emanuel infamously once said “never let a time of crisis go to waste”; and following that advice are several groups of Libertarian and Independent supporters that desperately want to overthrow the Republican Party from within. These groups do have some valid concerns and reasons for wanting to “overthrow the bad guys” of the Republican Party…too many to list here in fact. There is no doubt that the party needs some re-educating; but that pertains to some of the issues and does not translate into a complete platform wipe-out. Some well organized activist groups have even gone so far as to take over several county legislative districts by appointing Libertarian-Independents as local “Republican” Party leaders and “Republican” Precinct Committeemen. This move is a gut shot to the GOP establishments, because the local leadership and the Precinct Committeemen are the ones who choose which candidates will appear on the ballot for elective office and they decide what will be the policies of the political parties that provide the major support for those candidates. The GOP, as a whole, doesn’t appear to realize what is going on right under their own noises and are losing control of their party at the local levels. Based on what has happened over the last few years, party pride aside, that may or may not be a bad thing.

Then there is the third party issue that the GOP has to struggle with. We have already seen the affect that third party candidates have on elections; they can cause Democrats to win as seen in New Yorks 23rd District special election between Republican Dede Scozzafava, Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman and Democrat Bill Owens. Having blind faith in the GOP and hoping that it picks up all of the Tea Party protestor votes isn’t very likely. Interestingly enough, a Rasmussen Generic Ballot test found that Democrats attract 36% of the vote, while the Tea Party candidate picks up 23% and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided. That spells defeat for the GOP, and a victory for Democrats…again.

November of 2010 will be here before you know it. Right now is the time for the GOP to be focusing on stopping and reversing the statist agenda with a conservative principled plan; instead they have had to dedicate critical time and effort to fighting power battles within their state and county groups. The GOP has spent so much time and effort on maintaining local party cohesiveness and fighting the various civil wars within its own ranks that it cannot effectively focus on the real task at hand; and that’s campaigning to win elections. In Arizona for example; John McCain’s camp (which is seen among many as too moderate for the party) has recently caused some political waves among the conservative and libertarian groups for allegedly trying to engineer control of the state committee and the Governorship. Every state has similar controversies, and this kind of political party implodinghappens every election cycle on both sides of the political fence; but in today’s volatile political environment the GOP cannot afford to deal with such fraternal problems and expect to win elections.

The GOP is vacillating support, but it can recover and improve its chances of winning future elections by following a few simple recommendations: 1) becoming more engaged with the public, 2) encouraging more conservatives to run for office and 3) by maintain the course of returning to the principle values of the party. The GOP needs to ground itself with its conservative base and the Tea Party followers; and based on the poll data this is what the People want – there just not getting it from the GOP. If it does not do this, then history may indeed repeat itself and the GOP could fail to acquire some of the Congressional seats that it so desperately is seeking to get in 2010.

Obama, Year One…a year of disillusionment.

The first year of President Obama’s term is nearly over, and if you’re a Conservative there is a lot to be unpleased with. In fact if you’re a Liberal, there is a lot to be unpleased with as well. Looking back to the many campaign promises that bought the Liberal, Moderate and Independent vote, how has Obama faired overall? There are so many issues to discuss its mind boggling; the surge in Afghanistan, the war in Iraq, Iran, Guantánamo, the economy, healthcare reform, etc. Probably the most obvious topic to talk about first is the disillusionment that the President and this administration has had with its own accomplishments.

It doesn’t matter what side of the political spectrum your on to notice that President Obama really hasn’t done much in terms of Presidential “achievements” during his first year, unless your counting the recent Healthcare Bill. Liberals and Obama supporters have the feeling of being let down by the President because many of their leftist agenda items (i.e., anti-war, pro-Gay and pro-Green agendas) that are tied to his policy have not moved as fast or as far as many of them would have liked. Conservatives and Libertarians are not happy because in their eyes, Obama’s policy has already moved to fast and too far to the left. Presidents of this country have made their mark in history by accomplishments that they have made, so knowing this, it’s really no surprise to understand why Obama wanted the Healthcare Bill to pass before the year’s end. All of this despite the millions of American’s marching to their state Capitals and even marching on the nation’s Capital building to protest the bill and this administrations statist agenda in general. All of which fell on deaf ears. This isn’t about what American’s want or what is best for America; this is about Obama’s legacy peer and simple. And he’s even willing to damage and breakup his political party to do so. The Democratic Party has already lost one Conservative Democrat, Democratic Rep. Parker Griffith, who switched to the Republican Party because of feeling that the Democratic leadership under Obama, Pelosi and Reid, was pushing legislation that is bad for our country, hurts our economy and drives us further and further into debt.

Congressional Democrats and Obama supporters like to continually point out that due to Obama’s economic policy, America’s financial system is no longer near collapse, the bailout is being repaid faster than expected, and the evidence is that the stimulus plan is working. Conservatives disagree stating that it’s the natural process of capitalism that’s improving the nation, and that the banks are repaying the bailout money because they didn’t need or want it to begin with and are motivated to repay the funds because they don’t want to be held under this administrations thumb while making business decisions. None the less, America’s unemployment is still at 10 percent. Some of the state’s unemployment rates are nearly double that; and that is attributable directly to the economic policies of this Democrat controlled Congress and this administration, and not the last administration. Yet these statists still think that the increased government involvement and increased regulations on the financial industry isn’t enough, and demand even more intervention.

Based on what’s happened this past year, it’s clear that Obama and the Democrats would like to have it both ways; they want to burden President Bush with anything that is seen as negative and want to claim responsibility for anything that has the perception of being positive. Transparency was something that Obama ran on during his campaign. Yet nothing that Congress or this administration has done has been transparent. The only thing that is truly transparent is that Congressional Democrats intend to keep their political deals behind closed doors, and want to continue with the same old “politics as usual” way of doing things and this Healthcare Bill was a prime example of that.

2010 should be an interesting year in the political realm. With a few congressional members political careers on the chopping blocks, its sure to be an exciting year for the Conservative movement.

Tea Party, a real Political Party?

In July of this year, we wrote a short blog post (here) about the possibility of having a third party and what affect it might have on the political system. With the rise of the Tea Party movement and public figures like Sarah Palin, the idea that a new party, a Tea Party, is in need. Some are saying this because they feel that members of both the Republican and Democratic Party of today have too much in common and are nearly indistinguishable from one another. So is a new party really the answer?

According to a recent Rasmussen poll, seventy-three percent (73%) of Republican voters believe their party’s congressional leaders are out of touch with the party base. [By a raise of hands, how many of you feel the same way?] Republicans in office should be concerned over the poll, and conservatives should see this as challenge and an opportunity to improve the party.

If a 3rd party candidate is in the race, the picture changes dramatically. A separate, three-way Rasmussen Generic Ballot test found that Democrats attract 36% of the vote, while the Tea Party candidate picks up 23% and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided. The GOP can improve its chances by becoming more engaged with the public, encouraging more conservatives to run for office and maintain the course of returning to the principle values of the party. This is why the GOP needs to ground itself with its conservative base, and the Tea Partiers.

While it may be true that a small portion of members from the Republican Party seem to be leaning to the more Liberal side of things, it’s important to look at the conservative base of the party. The Republican Party has some very good conservative minded rising stars that would satisfy the conservative right’s political needs; Bachman, Jindal, and Cantor to name just a few.

Hypothetically speaking, let’s just say that a new third or fourth party is needed. Would you believe that just because a new party is a good party today that it guarantees it’s going to be a good party in the future? History provides that answer to us, and the answer is no. Both the Democratic and Republican Parties were good parties at one point; albeit that was a long time ago. Many think the Republican Party was a good party before it was infiltrated from within by moderates and liberals running on a Republican ticket.

Let’s compare this third political party issue to the healthcare topic. Much of the issue with the healthcare debate was that the whole system wasn’t broken and many claimed only certain aspects needed to be fixed. In comparison, there are a few bad apples within the Republican Party therefore a complete reset of the whole party is not going to be the answer. The answer for both situations is the same, hold people accountable, get rid of the problems, and move forward with a better action plan.

In the two party system that we have today, a new party will most likely hurt the conservative movement at the voter’s box. A third party may impair the Republicans more than the Democrats because there would be two or more parties running on a majority of the same issues. There could be two or more candidates running on conservative campaign agendas, possibly confusing voters and splitting votes up within the conservative movement; all the while the Democratic Party would remain strong and undivided.

America, the land of dependency…

“I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.” This phrase is more applicable now than ever. For months now Americans have been telling and often shouting what they want and don’t want to their elected representatives with little results. House and Senate Democrats have continued to tell the American public that they know what is best for Americans, regardless how many of us picket their local offices or Tea Party Washington. Bottom line is they don’t want to listen. This healthscare bill is not about helping Americans. It’s about power. If the Democrat’s can get the American public hooked on Healthcare and other social dependency programs, then they feel that they will be able to remain in power indefinably because if people are dependent on the government for life they will vote for the Democratic party.  This Democratic controlled 111th Congress and the Obama administration have shown us time and time again with their words and actions over the last year that they see American sovereignty as something that is vested not in the people but in the national state, and that all individuals and associations exist only to enhance the power, economic status and the well-being of the state. This is statism through and through, and it’s time that the rest of America wakes up from its brainwashed utopia.

Also See: Sen. Akaka Says ‘I’m Not Aware’ of Constitution Giving Congress Authority to Make Individuals Buy Health Insurance

The most important fact that the main stream media is missing about the healthcare issue is that; there is no specific part of the Constitution that gives Congress the authority to force Americans to buy health insurance. When they are asked if they have the authority they say “absolutely” and ramble off how the Commerce Clause gives them authority and then state meaningless campaign phrases about how they want to help the Americans that don’t have coverage and help lower the costs of healthcare for everyone, etc. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) studied the issue and discovered that the federal government had never in the history of the United States mandated that individuals purchase any specific goods or service. Supporters of Obamacare proudly state the 10-year cost of $829 billion that the Congressional Budget Office is estimating this will cost Americans as if this was a good thing because it didn’t come out to the trillion dollars that analysts had “expected”.

This is not the first time that the US government was told it did not have the authority the regulate healthcare. Linder v. United States was a Supreme Court case involving applicability of the Harrison Act; which was originally a taxing measure on drugs. In the case the Supreme Court unanimously held that the federal government overstepped its power to regulate medicine. The opinion of the court was written by Justice James Clark McReynolds and states, “Obviously, direct control of medical practice in the states is beyond the power of the federal government.”

This statist administration is trying to push through one of the biggest power grabs the nation has ever dealt with and is trying to force the majority of its citizens to pay for the minority and the illegal. Should this bill pass the Senate, it would be without a doubt one of the most unprecedented forms of federal action the United States Government has ever done.

The Democrat leadership in the Senate must take into account the need to amass 60 votes behind any legislation if the intend on overcoming any Republican filibuster. Let’s hope that some of the blue-dog Democrats join the Republican’s to kill this bill on its arrival….maybe they can recycle the paper the bill was printed on and make a few thousand Starbucks coffee cups or something to appease the Green advocacy groups.

“Brought the economy back from the brink?”

It’s hard to understand why and how this administration can think that it has turned around our nation’s economy when the national unemployment rate continues its path towards double digits. Some state unemployment numbers are nearly double the national average (i.e. Michigan again recorded the highest unemployment rate among the states, 15.3 percent in September).

According to the Bureau of Labor’s statistics in September, nonfarm payroll employment decreased in 43 states and the District of Columbia and increased in only 7 states. Even though Obama likes to state that his administration took quick action to “create or save 300,000 jobs” the unemployment statistics sing a different tune. Since Obama has been President, jobless rates have increased in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. That’s all 57 states if you’re Obama. The West reported the highest regional jobless rate at 10.6 percent, followed by the Midwest at 9.8 percent. The Northeast and South recorded the lowest rates at 9.0 and 9.3 percent.

President Obama and the Democratic Leadership, living in their self created statist utopia, like to blame the rising jobless numbers on President Bush by saying that they inherited the failing economy. While there is some truth that Obama may have inherited part of this problem, he has most certainly not made sound fiscal policy decisions since he has been in office. Therefore the rising rates are attributed to Obama and his policies, not Bush’s. The blame game is getting old. President Reagan inherited a failing economy from Mr. Irrelevant and turned it into one the largest economic growth periods this nation has ever experienced and he did it by making sound decisions like reducing taxes. So what is Obama’s excuse? He can’t blame it on Bush, he can’t blame it on Congress since his party is in control (at the moment), and he can’t take responsibility for his own actions. Considering his past actions, he’ll probably travel to a foreign country and blame all of us.

Since Obama has been President American’s have been worried about the rising cost of living (due to Cap & Trade and other Green agendas), rising healthcare costs (aka Obamacare) and rising unemployment. Obama’s system has a serious flaw in it. How can you afford to pay for all of these huge government programs if the people aren’t paying taxes because they are unemployed? Wouldn’t it make more sense to focus on creating real jobs (non-governmental jobs) rather than trying to overhaul our healthcare system into a form of socialized medicine?

Still there are those supporters that think Obama needs more time to show us what he can do. So lets take a look at a few of the states statistics to really drill the message home. Arizona, which has been known to be at the top of the list when referring to the fastest growing states for the last few years, had unemployment rates jump from 6.0 percent in September of 2008 to 9.1 percent in September of 2009. That’s a 3.1 percent increase in unemployment after the stimulus packages and bailouts. Next door, California’s jobless rate was at 7.8 percent in 2008, now they are at 12.2 percent, a 4.4 percent increase. Michigan suffering a 6.4 percent increase in unemployment as most would imagine was one of the most affected due to the bailouts of the big auto makers, at 15.3 percent and climbing. Do we really want to give him more time to show us that he doesn’t know what he is doing? If something isn’t done to help untangle the free markets from more government influence, this will undoubtedly be a recipe for further economic disaster.

Where are these supposed 300,000 jobs at anyway? Sure the stock markets may have recovered some, but at what expense? And other than the failed bailouts and the zillion dollar stimulus packages that haven’t helped do anything but waste tax payer money (spending it on pork projects faster than the ink can dry) what exactly has this administration done to be able to say with a straight face that they brought us back from the brink of a economic collapse? The simple answer is, nothing.

In 2011-2012, it will be interesting to see how many candidates use the “we’ve inherited this failing economy from Obama” mantra to propel themselves into the oval office.

Rush = GOP…Again.

Riding on the coat tails of the New York’s 23rd Congressional District race, for the 3rd or 4th time this year, the Whitehouse and the main stream media (a.k.a state controlled media) have tried to divert the news and brand Rush Limbaugh as the leader for the GOP in some sort of last minute political smear campaign. When are they going to realize that this is not a bad idea? Many people on both sides of the political fence wish he was the leader of the party, albeit for different reasons. At least Rush knows exactly what his values are and where he stands on the issues. We cannot always say the same for the GOP.

With a minimum weekly syndicated radio talk show audience of 13.5 million listeners (a majority of which are conservatives), the GOP should be thanking Rush for trying to keep the party on target for the last 20 plus years instead of trying to distance  themselves from him. With that kind of talking power and vast reach to potential voters, he should be viewed as more of a political asset than someone to avoid. If Rush were a liberal talk show host, the lefties would protect him as if he were their Prophet…he’d be untouchable.

GOP Candidate Endorses Democrat?

Strange happenings in New York’s 23rd Congressional District, GOP candidate Dierdre Scozzafava has officially endorsed the Democratic candidate over the Conservative Independent candidate Doug Hoffman. Yes that’s right, a Republican is supporting a Liberal Democrat in this race, proving the point of the Conservative Right that Scozzafave was a RINO. This is exactly why conservatives are beginning to get feed up with the GOP and its political mis-guidedness. Back in April when the Tea Parties started, many of the people that attended were worried that the GOP would hijack the movement rather than learn from it. It’s becoming very clear that the worrying was well founded. Since last year’s Presidential election, the GOP has been trying to recruit more moderates and centrists to the party; which sounds like a party full of John McCain wanta-bees.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich argues that the party needs to be more inclusive of moderates if it has hopes of retaking the majority, but is that really the problem? The reason that the Independent party is growing is because the Republican Party seems like it could literally explode at any minute and split itself up. Oddly enough, as party leaders are saying they need more moderates to win in 2010, the GOP has had a difficult time staying on course with the issues because it has too many “moderates” in the party already. By having moderates and even some lefties in Republican clothing in the party, it weakens the party’s effectiveness and image.  Republican leaders spend a lot of time worrying about the moderates and how likely they are (or aren’t) to vote along side with the Republican base. If this is the case, then why support moderates or anyone that’s not in line with your party’s political values and stances? This all seems to be a recipe for political party suicide.

And as expected the Whitehouse and its crony Democrats are using the New York race as evidence that the Republican Party is dividing and won’t be able to retake the majority with a far right agenda. The Republicans have very little time to get their act together and show America that they can support a strong Conservative position. They can either start to realize that a majority of conservative Americans want a strong conservative Republican Party that is united in its values and goals; or they can simply step aside like Scozzafava did and let the conservative Independents split the party up and fill the gaps.

Cellphone Sheila is back…

Why are members of this administration discussing non-governmental issues like Rush Limbaugh’s group bidding for ownership of the St. Louis Rams football team on the fllor of Congress? Democrat Congresswoman (Texas – 18th District) Sheila Jackson Lee took it upon herself to vocalize her opposition of Rush and his NFL bid.

Now keep in mind, this the same Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee that answered her cell phone during a tough question at a healthcare townhall. And it’s the same Sheila Jackson Lee (who represents a district in Houston and sits on committees that deal with NASA) who did not know that astronauts had not traveled to and planted flags on Mars – which was seen when she inquired whether the Mars rover would be able to roll over to where astronauts had planted the American flag…therefore I’m not exactly sure how powerful her words really are for the Democratic party.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had previously launched an online petition to express outrage at Rush Limbaugh for saying he wanted President Obama to “fail.” Now they are trying to ruin his image by calling him a racist and which ultimately lead to his failed NFL bid. The Left will take any shot that it can at discrediting anyone on the Right. Sure they may have succeeded in stopping Rush from taking ownership of the team, but at what cost? To use an analogy; the problem with throwing the first punch is that you have one less arm to block the incoming counter punch from your opponent, opening yourself up for an attack. The Left better be ready, because Rush Limbaugh is a heavy hitter.

Ding, ding, round Two…

Citizen Disarmament?

Once again the talk about gun rights is heating up, mostly due to Bobby Rush’s (D) H.R. 45 Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 and the Obama administration’s appointment of anti-gun advocate Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. The Act is much more than a forced registration of all firearms in America; it amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and would essentially establish a nationwide system for prohibiting unlicensed gun-ownership. Sound sort of non-ominous right? Well, even if the bill was drafted under the most thoughtful intentions, it is without a doubt a direct assault on the second amendment. If approved, the law would require gun owners to apply for five-year licenses to own firearms, and would give the U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, broad authority over the entire program. Keep in mind that Eric Holder is a former Democratic prosecutor and a staunch supporter of extremely strict gun control.

The second amendment is very clear to me, “The Right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. By using the very definition of the word “infringe”, this Act and the anti-gun supporting actions of anti-gun lobbies and a few liberal members Congress would clearly indicate a move towards violating the rights of the American people guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

Some people claim that this is a fringe bill and that it has virtually zero chances of becoming law. And that may be true, but do you think the attack on the second amendment will stop there? President Obama and Eric Holder aren’t the only members of this administration that have expressed their anti-gun plans. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is on record as wanting to confiscate all guns suitable for self defense and she wants to strictly regulate all hunting guns as well. This would have already been done had she believed it were politically possible to accomplish without breaking her party and damaging the President.

Whether you’re pro-gun or not, take a step back and think about the impact this will have on our nation and our Constitutional rights as whole. The second amendment is without a doubt a constitutional right recognized by a majority of Americans that is written and defined by our nation’s founders. If the liberal left can somehow get this right changed in some way to weaken it, then what is to stop them from changing anything else that is guaranteed by the Constitution that they do not like? What’s next, maybe the right to freedom of speech, certain parental rights or the right to practice the religion of your own choosing? Oh, wait what am I talking about….those rights are also under attack by the lefties, statists and totalitarians.

History has proven to us time and time again that dictators and tyrants have used firearms registration and gun control measures as the first step toward gun confiscation and citizen disarmament….which also leads to other losses of civil rights. Don’t think that could happen to America? Research German history during the 1940’s under Hitlers rule; they didn’t think it could happen to them either.

“Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.” – John F. Kennedy

“All Talk, no Action…as usual”

President Obama promotes the decreasing of weapons of mass destruction, yet how exactly can we stop a country from developing (and possibly using) Nuclear weapons if we ourselves aren’t willing to confront them head on? This administration needs to take a real hard look at how Reagan handled the Cold War, because we are headed for a similar situation…except this time it won’t be just between two countries. This administration has been played and used like a pawn by Iran, North Korea, Venezuela and Russia since Obama has taken office. All of this inaction, pandering and apologizing for America’s past actions has proven to the world that America (or at least its government) has become weak and out of touch with the global world of politics and is unwilling to commit to anything of real global importance. A clear signal to our allies and our enemies that America has “changed” can be seen when we abandoned our plans for placing ballistic missile defense (BMD) installations in Poland and the Czech Republic.  We’ve turned our backs on our allies, betraying and exposing them to the threat of nuclear retaliation and blackmail; while our enemies continue to build up their military arsenals. The world’s leaders can clearly see this administrations lack of experience, and they know that Obama is an empty suit.

In the face of the Obama administration just days after being condemned over a newly revealed underground nuclear facility that was being secretly constructed,  Iran announced that it successfully test-fired short-range missiles during elite Revolutionary Guard drills. This was obviously a show of force as it was done only days after Obama’s “tough” United Nations speech.

And to make matters worse, we now have Venezuela asking for Iran’s and Russia’s help in detecting uranium deposits on its soil. As I had written about in a prior post, this “friendship” between our enemies is the beginning of a real problem for the United States.  These anti-US countries have too much invested financially and economically with each other to turn back now. Our shaky relationships with these nations are hanging by very thin unraveling pieces of string.

On Monday, Iran has said that it will test fire its Shahab-3 short range missile; which according to Tehran can travel approx 2,200 km…that’s capable of hitting Israel and even some US bases in the Gulf. Clearly tensions are rising in the east, and our great savior Obama is running out of time and out of options to save the world.
